SANDPIT

David Kindred sent these pictures of the sandpit in Victoria Road owned by his grandfather Walter Charles Kindred. David's father Ronald Walter Kindred is seen driving the loader in the first picture and holding a sack ready to be filled with sand in the second. This picture which appeared in a local newspaper was taken in September 1939 a few days after war had been declared, hence the need for sandbags. David now lives in Canada and would welcome any memories of his family or of the sandpit.
