For over twenty years Stowmarket Church was without it's spire, presenting a rather ugly appearance, The truncated spire was known as "The Stowmarket Stump" , the spire was taken down due to it's dangerous condition and replaced in the mid 1990's. [photo - Denis Reynolds]
