ERNEST OCTAVIUS BARNARD
1890 - 1963


Denis Reynolds has sent in this photo. Denis tells me "Ernest was one of the brothers of the two sisters my grandfather Bertram Reynolds married. His father was William Fen Barnard."

The soldier on the extreme right of the second row from the back is Ernest Octavius Barnard 1890 - 1963 of Stowmarket. He lived in the row of cottages next to the churchyard. There is a name at the bottom left of the photo " - RUSSELL - NORTHFIELD`S - EALING - probably the name of photographer.

Ernest Octavius BARNARD was born 17th May 1890 and died 24th January 1963 aged 75, he was buried at Stowmarket. His wife was Ethel who died 26th February 1962 aged 71, she was also buried at Stowmarket. 
Ernest's siblings are
Catherine Mary BARNARD b. 04/11/1874 and who died 30/10/1906 aged 31, she married Bertram George REYNOLDS (Denis REYNOLDS grandfather). 
Edith Ellen BARNARD b. 1877? Stowmarket, died 17/04/1978 Stowmarket. She married Bertram George REYNOLDS son of George REYNOLDS (butcher) and Sarah BANHAM, a leather cutter of 57 Bond Street. 
Arthur Thomas William BARNARD b. 1879? Stowmarket (an errand boy in 1891 aged 11). He married Beatrice. 
Elizabeth BARNARD b. 1882? Stowmarket, died 12/03/1896. 
Charles Edward BARNARD b. 12/03/1884 Stowmarket married 03/08/1908 to Annie Margaret SCARFF, died 04/11/1937 aged 53 in Ipswich. 
George Frederick BARNARD b. 02/09/1887 Stowmarket, a clerk in 1913, Railway clerk in 1947, married Gertrude Eunice REYNOLDS at Stowmarket 23/09/1913, died 17/11/1957 aged 70 at Ipswich. 
Bertie BARNARD b. 19/05/1892 Stowmarket, clerk in 1923, Railway clerk in 1954, married Doris May CHAPLIN at Stowmarket 21/07/1923. 
The eight children that I know of were the offspring of William Fenn BARNARD b.05/12/1849 at Combs, a gardener of Bulls Row in 1881 aged 31, gardener of 5 Bulls Cottage Churchyard in 1891 aged 41, gardener in 1913, died 07/05/1931 at Stowmarket aged 81, buried at Stowmarket and his wife Sarah Ann BONE b. about 1850 Stowmarket, daughter of William Baker BONE and Mary Ann TRICKER, died 27/06/1931 aged 81 and buried at Stowmarket. 
William Fenn BARNARD was the 8th child of John BARNARD and Mary FARTHING.
