EASTWARD HO!

Eastward Ho school was evacuated to Hill
House, Stowmarket from Felixstowe during the First World War but remained there
until it closed about 1925 . This photo of 1922 may have been taken at the end
of term judging from the happy faces of the girls! The girls in the front seated
row seem to be holding objects that show the various subjects taught - tennis
racket, hockey stick, loaf of bread & musical instruments. The reverse of
the postcard on which this photo appears is signed by various members of the
staff, the names I can read are as follows - G. MacArthur - orderly, Fran
Robinson - "Grub", Doris E. Read - singsong, Kathleen M. Johnson -
cycling, Constance N. Chandler - ass: orderly, B. Marian Smyth - chaplain,
M. E. Millburn - Ass. Adj: -
